Velella's Drift
An account of Velella's voyage from Seattle to New York via Panama, 2009-2011The Ship
Velella is a 35′ Westwind Cutter, built by Young Sun in Taiwan. People always ask if she’s a Hans Christian Baba, and the answer is yes and no. The same yard that built the Babas for Bob Perry made a second line of the same under the Young Sun name . . . they just didn’t pay him his royalties. Designer label or no, she’s a stout little ocean-going vessel.

I’m so proud of all of you! Sounds as though you are having a wonderful time so far. We miss you back in Seattle. I can’t wait to come and rendezvous with you soon!
xoxoxo,
Lucie
